| All of us would have people around us that we learn from in our lives. And people whom we in turn teach and need to be accountable to at some point - as students, working adults or parents. The better we are at relating and leading others into growth, the better we become as individuals. In this issue, I hope we can draw some lessons and wisdom from these materials that can help us cultivate values and cultures that we want in our lives and lift us up. | | Create a Growth Culture, Not a Performance-Obsessed One In a competitive, complex, and volatile business environment, many C-Suite leaders are focused on how to build higher performance cultures. The irony is that building a culture focused on performance may not be the best, healthiest, or most sustainable way to fuel results. Instead, it may be more effective to focus on creating a culture of growth. | | How Humility Makes Us Better, Saner Teachers The pursuit of humility, once we properly understand the term, yields better relationships and faster growth. With that said, it makes great sense that we dig into humility in our continuing pursuit of better, saner teaching. | | Every Kid Deserves a Champion | Rita Pierson | | Proudly Brought to You I seek to reach out to people who believe in safeguarding the interests of their loved ones. | | | | Vicky Huang (Year 1 AIA FSC, Year 1 NUS undergraduate) I first met Jerry in 2019 when I was curious about the financial industry and is looking for a good opportunity to join. I have talked to a few planners before eventually deciding to join Jerry’s team. One of the main reasons is that he gave me a very clear and objective view of the industry and what to expect etc. and he was very genuine in his sharing. Now, moving forward, Jerry is my mentor and he has inspired me to be a more hardworking individual. He has provided me with guidance in my journey as a student financial planner and he is always there to listen, help and give feedback even though he is very busy. Looking forward to learn more from Jerry! | | | | Chris Maik (MOE Educator) & SiQi (Homemaker) Jerry is much more than just our financial advisor. Ever ready to meet with a friendly smile, Jerry understands our concerns and constraints, and regularly keeps in touch to find out if we need to make adjustments as we go though the different phases of our family life. Friends of ours have got to know Jerry through us and they all have positive experiences with him too! His vast knowledge and experience in almost all things Singaporean adults go through makes Jerry a great person to ask advice and recommendations from. Thank you! | | | | Nady Yang (SUSS undergraduate) It was a fruitful session with Jerry! It was eyeopening as it was my first time meeting a financial advisor and I didn’t know what to expect. But he patiently shared and educated me all the plans and the possible financial paths and decisions I can make now for the future.
Jerry also made the policies' jargons easy to absorb and I think I now have a clearer view of the steps I should take to reach my goals.
Overall, I look forward to learning more from him. Jerry, you again for taking out your time for this session 😆 | | | | Whitney Ting (Year 7 AIA FSC) “格局” and “Let’s not waste time moving around, I’ll settle it for you” were the first few words that truly anchored something in me and from there, the rest is history.
When you’re overwhelmed and hard on yourself internally, he remains the calmest person in the room, always finding a way to reassure you while quietly working to make things happen with his depth of knowledge and experience.
A great leader or mentor makes you feel safe, supported, and confident that you’re in good hands. That alone is enough for me to continue this journey together, striving for a greater breakthrough.
Thank you for the strong connections you build with those around you, and for constantly elevating your knowledge and experience in ways that uplift and benefit others. One day, we’ll meet at the level I’m working towards. Keep shining with that positive inner strength and impacting people around you. 🍀 | | | | Royden Lim (Year 2 AIA FSC, Year 2 SUSS Undergraduate) Maybe I should start by sharing how I met Jerry before I joined him as an FSC. Jerry has been with my family and our family business for as long as I can remember. He has literally seen me grow up through my various stages of life. But it took an unfortunate series of events that really led me to realise the importance of financial planning and insurance, and got me thinking about how to better manage my own. So who better to find than Jerry? And ever since then, things have gotten for the better. To have a mentor that actively makes time for his team is a difficult find - not to mention that Jerry himself is extremely busy. From weekly training sessions to suddenly having to meet someone the next day, Jerry has always put in his 110% effort in making sure that we are constantly learning. It doesn’t matter whether it’s 11 am or 11 pm, you can always contact him. Couldn’t ask for more! | | | | |
